Starting with this week’s lab, we are going to get comfortable with using an oscilloscope very quickly. Fortunately, modern digital ‘scopes have an accessible interface for simple waveform measurements and are therefore quite easy to get started on.

We mentioned in passing the effect of probe attenuation in the waveform measurement. Here’s a short video showing the effect of probe-loading (which you can think of as similar to the famous quantum observer effect where the act of measurement changes the thing you are trying to measure):
